These cover songs are acoustic arrangements, and are intricate and engaging, with plenty of edge and forcefulness where it suits. Here the duo remain true to their distinctive sound and expert intertwining of their voices (along with other guest vocals). Instrumentation is all kinds of guitars and basses, Uilleann pipes, various whistles, cello, bouzouki, flute, and percussive elements including bodhrán.
Favorite track: 14. Siúil A Rúin (Traditional/Clannad).
The Rainbow Tree is the 4th cover album released by the German Acoustic Duo Melanie Mau & Martin Schnella. Their unique acoustic interpretations of Progressive Rock and Metal classics have gathered much international attention to Melanie and Martin and their co musicians Lars Lehmann (bass), Mathias Ruck
(vocals) and Simon Schröder (percussion) during the last few years. The Rainbow Tree continues this musical journey with completly different acoustic arrangements of Prog Classics by Kansas, Gentle Giant, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Peter Gabriel and many more.
Melanie Mau & Martin Schnella give these songs their own personal note, focusing on 3-part vocal harmonies, fine and also powerful acoustic guitars together with their passion to Celtic sounds. The latter are highlighted by the contribution of their longtime co musicians and friends Jens Kommnick and Rolf Wagels.
Because of their shows at ProgStock Festival in New Jersey in 2019 and 2022 the collaboration with other musicians of the international Progressive Rock scene grew. So the idea was born to record an acoustic version of the Kansas classic „Song For America“ together with Rachel Flowers, Dave Meros (Spock's Beard, Pattern Seeking Animals) and Dennis Atlas (Pattern Seeking Animals).

This is the most beautiful symphonic progressive music I have heard since I first heard Yes' Magnification nearly 20 years ago. Robert Reed's orchestrations are magnificent, and are very much on par with Trevor Rabin's film scores as well as Larry Groupe's score for Magnification. I am a french horn player, and his soaring horn parts are some of the best I have ever heard.
For some reason I could not select Part1: Sacrifice as my favorite track. It is indeed my favorite. luckeydoug1
Turbulent indie rock from Levi Fuller & the Library that has the snarl of hardcore and the knotty meter of math rock. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 13, 2018
